That’s the spirit

Triple Distilled Communications

The Spirit Of Speyside whisky festival is awesome. I spent a week there last year and had the time of my life, and it seems many others did too, as this year’s ticket sales are booming. Here’s the deets:

Ticket sales for the 2016 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival have set new records, with over 2,700 tickets valued at almost £75,000 being bought within the first hour of their launch this week.

Just 10 minutes after the website went live on Tuesday (February 2) transactions reached the same level that took an hour to achieve in 2015, while the same amount of sales in an hour took 24 hours on last year’s opening day.

Over 60 events in the packed programme taking place in whisky’s spiritual home from April 28 to May 2 have already sold out, and many more have limited availability.  The events attracts thousands of visitors to Speyside…

Old Carrick Mill – Ireland’s Newest Whiskey Project

Old Carrick Mill – Ireland’s Newest Whiskey Project

This is AWESOME! Can’t wait to until they get to market!

Dram-Associate

Up until 2012 there were only 4 working and fully functioning Whiskey Distilleries in Ireland. All were owned by larger multinational companies; Kilbeggan (Co.Westmeath – Beam Suntory), Cooley (Co.Louth – Beam Suntory), Bushmills (Co.Antrim – Diageo) and Midleton (Co.Cork – Pernod Ricard.

With the release of the Irish Whiskey Assocation’s “Vision For Irish Whiskey” in May of this year Irish exports are expected to grow from 6.5million 9-litre cases a year to 24million 9-litre cases by 2030 and market share to grow by 300% between now and 2030, 4% to 12%.

Since 2012 planning permission for over 30 new distilleries has been submitted with many already having broken ground and cask on their sites and some already distilling or aging their whiskey for market sale. The most notable openings would be Tullamore DEW who opened their new facility on the 17th September 2014 and the Teeling Whiskey Company, the first…

Sonoma County Distilling Co.

Great Article, very informative!

whiskandmuddler

Ooh,  I’m so excited to share this with you!
West of Kentucky Bourbon | whiskandmuddler.com
As soon as I heard about this place, I couldn’t wait to check it out. I recently discovered Sonoma County Distilling Co. from a friend (thanks Nancy!) which is literally six minutes from my house. What a happy find. You must do yourself a favor and visit them if you’re heading to this area. I have to admit though, it’s only recently that I have begun to appreciate the world of brown spirits – in this particular case – bourbon & whiskeys. I’ve always happily drank them in a cocktail, or sometimes neat (if I was feeling bold). But now that I’ve been properly educated on how to enjoy this heady and complex drink by Cameron Wong, our expert host from their sales & production team, I’m even more taken with it. For those who’d like a quick refresher on…

Jameson Distillery

Jameson Distillery

I gotta get me one of those certificates, maybe I could take it into my local whiskey shop and get free Jameson!

Mel's Mosaic

Not only is Ireland known for beer, but one must also consider the whiskey.  So while there, the Jameson Distillery was high on my list of places to visit.  I wanted to get the full tour of how this drink happens, from start to finish (aka drinking).  So, scheduled a tour for the distillery in New Midleton.  This provides for 1.5+ hours of very educational background on the whiskey, working through the 3 steps it goes through and then sampling of 3 whiskeys.  One from the US, Scotland and Ireland.  Very unique tastes to each.  And you get a certificate at the end that you’re an Official Jameson Irish Whiskey Taster.  How can you go wrong with that?
